Apostle Blake

Apostle BlakeBorn in the Caribbean island of Jamaica, Bishop Dr. Canute B Blake gave his life to Christ at the early age of 11 and has remained committed to his call to serve. With over 35 years dedicated to ministry, Bishop Blake spent 19 of those years as the Senior Pastor of the Ottawa Church of God. He has preached throughout the Caribbean, South America, Europe, United States and Canada, and has taught short credited courses both in local churches and at the International Bible College (I.B.C.) in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Bishop Blake has accomplished several firsts in ministry in Canada. He was the first Black male in the history of the Church of God to hold the position of Superintendent of the Church of God in Canada (1994-1999); and Administrative Bishop of the Eastern Canada Region, (1994 to 2000).

Bishop Blake is accredited academically, theologically and professionally. He matriculated at Bethel Bible College; Algonquin College; the University of Ottawa. As well, he has been awarded a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.) from the Theological Seminary of California; Doctor of Religious Education D. R. Ed.), from the European Theological Seminary; Master of Theology (Th.M.) and Bachelor of Theology (Th.B.) from the International Seminary.

God has given His servant Bishop Blake a shepherd’s heart and has equipped him with gifts, some of which are rare, for the call to a diverse ministry. He uses these gifts, among other things, to foster unity in diversity, within the Christian Community. Bishop Blake sees his ministry as, bringing God’s healing and deliverance power, to those who are hurting by the negative influence of race, gender, class, culture, and ethnic differences.

He is a member of the “Advisory Board and Presbyter, (for Mission GTA) and “Advisory Member (for CLN.) Christian Leaders Network;” A member of the Advisory to the “African-Canadian Christian Network;” and he served as one of the “Supervising Pastors for Church of God, “Ministerial Internship Program” (mentoring young ministers.) Dr. Blake is the recipient of the “2006 Life Time Achievement Award” from Maja International.

The most significant thing that can be said about this man of God is that he loves God and cares for people.

Since 2000, Bishop Blake is the Senior Pastor for the Malton Church of God and District Overseer for Brampton District of Churches. With the launching of the Glorious Praise Ministries under the hospices of the Malton Church of God, Bishop Blake has continued to set the standard by being the first Church of God in Eastern Canada to launch both a radio and television broadcast.

Bishop Blake can be seen on the “Invasion of Hope” Telecast which airs every Saturday at 7:30am on Vision TV.
